Any good: OBX Racing Headers ???

Someone on e-bay is selling brand new OBX headers for TL/CL's for $299. Are they worth it?

quality is not that great but for the money they perform on par with the Comptechs. No one will dispute that the workmanship on the CTs is better than OBX or Stone...what I mean is that people have had some issues with fitment and/or cracks on the OBX/Stone headers but not on the CTs. I have obx headers for over a year and so far so good.

I got tired of waiting for Stone and couldn't afford Comptech, so I just got the OBX headers this past weekend. There's a small exhaust leak by the catalytic converter, but not that big of a deal. Other than that, I'm pretty satisfied with it.

installation?

Anyone install the headers themselves or have someone else do it?

If someone else did, how much should I pay?

Thx!

Depends on the location, but like edgalang said, $100 is reasonable. But in Michigan, the going price is around $200.

I installed mine myself on Saturday with a friend and it was a bitch and a half to line up the headers to the downpipes. That alone took about 20 minutes. But it was all worth it in the end.

my buddy and one of his friends installed it for me. It was a bitch for them and at one point one of the bolts wouldn't come off (one of the last ones) so they have to put the stockers back on and we drove to a meineke and they heated that one bolt for me for free and loosened it(i gave them a tip). We drive back to my bud's house and they finished the job. took him out to dinner.

Let me guess which bolt that was -- on the catalytic converter, right? Two of the three on my car were seized and we had to torch them and use a breaker bar to get them off. They were rusted to all hell.

It's good to have a torch handy.

word! It was one of the cat bolts! if you have the right tools it isn't that bad. fortunately my friend had a drill and dremel handy to fix the alignment issue.

For the price you can get 2-3 sets of OBX before 1 set of CT. I know they are not as well built as CT, but for that price you can't beat that. Even if you have problems with them it'll still be cheaper than CT

How do you port the headers? I assume you dremel out the inside of the header opening to match the block, but how do you get the line up? ANy DIY gurus to help?

Use the manifold gasket to outline the port and grind away the excess material. Repeat on the head and now they're port matched.
