Any getting supercharger?
I was wondering if anyone is planning on getting the super charger for $4500? I got the following from the comtech site.
..::Supercharger::..
Application:
Accord V6 98-02, CL 01-02, TL 99-02 (including Type-S Model)
Currently Under Development
- Base Model CL & TL & Accord V6 Due ~Summer 2002
- Type-S Models Due ~Summer 2002
Horsepower gains on 3.0L Accord 50~60 Wheel Horsepower.
Will include:
Supercharger unit, icebox, fuel system upgrades (FPR & in- tank fuel pump), as well as all required hardware & brackets.
-Will require purchasing a new, smaller battery.
-Recommend upgrading tranny fluids to Redline Fluid.
-Target Retail Pricing Around ~$4500.00
This seems like alot of money for minimal gains. How much is 50-60 wheel hp at the crank? Would a custom turbo better option?

I also saw that they are coming out with a intake.
V6 Icebox Intake
- Fits 98-02 Accord V6, 01-02 CL & CL-S, 99-02 TL & TL-S
- 50 State Legal
- ABS Roto-molded Plastic for less heat transfer.
- Reuseable Foam Filter Element
- Due ~Late Spring 2002
Whats the hp gains on this? How does it compare to the AEM or injen?

still it's like 65-75HP @ the crank...
Not really worth it IMHO... For the TL-P, might as well trade the car in for a 2003 TL-S.
For the TL-S, I doubt that you can still get that kinda gain, and 320+hp @ the crank is too harsh for the tranny, a bit too much for a FWD...

chiawei had the supercharger in his car. He posted that his 2000 TL had 220hp@ the wheels with the supercharger.
That is 295hp at the flywheel, since our cars are 225 stock, there is a maximum gain of 70hp.
Keep in mind that superchargers create constant increase in power, so don't judge by just the maximum hp.
For example:
The average gain is what counts for me and not the max. Like comptech claims 17hp max on the headers on a TL-P when the average gain is only 5.5hp.
They claim 32hp gain with the headers on the type S , but average gain is only 8.7hp.
Hopefully the comptech supercharger is a different story.
BTW the price will be more like $3800.

But don't you need the header as well? So it's still 5k...

$75 a pony
Thats pretty high
I thought the power increase was going to be 40% instead of a 26.6% increase.
Usually, supercharging applications increase power 33%+
But, 60hp gain is better than nothing.

I asked Comptech about the tranny issue. Here's their reply:

A v6 Accord does 200hp at the crank stock if I remember correctly. If they lose as much as us through the transmission then
maybe somewhere around 150 at the wheels? Not sure about their torque, which is what I'm more interested in.

Three Wheelin'
You know what? A 1000 dollar Italian suit isn't worth the money it costs but you look damn good in one. No one can get those gains with the other available mods out there so whether or not it is worth it is a matter of opinion. I hope more people feel that it isn't so that I am one of the few who get it even though it will set me back plenty. I think you gotta love your TL to do it!

But on the other hand, if it's a IS300, then hell yet I would consdier the Turbo kit... Cuz you get an M3/S4 performance after all...
