another tl-p vs tl-s question

alright...to all you tl gurus out theres...answer me this...supposedly the tl-s has only 15-16 more wheel horse power compared to the tl-p...so hypothetically speaking...if you added one upgrade big enough to offset the diffrence such as a good brand of headers per say (comptech)...you could hang with a stock type-s since the numbers are now even...and on a tl-s you only start to feel a diffrence up top...is that correct?? sorry if it sounds confusing...i just wanted to know...

A TL-S has about 25 more whp than a TL-P.

I had a modded '00 TL and now own a modded CL-S. The TL was great, but remember the Type-S motor has a two stage intake manifold, larger intake valves, different camshaft, a more open exhaust system and higher compression. I/H/P will get you to 250 or so IMO on your TL. Put I/H/P on a Type-S motor and you talking 300 crank horsepower. The Type-S motor really breathes.

Yeah but you have to take into account parasitic drive train loss and the corrected SAE ratings

Yeah, you can definitely mod a TL-P to hang with a TL-S but I would rather buy a Type S and mod that. And I like all the other goodies the Type S has like the wheels, headrests and perforated leather.
