Another Spring Question
I had decided to get the Comptech springs, and was looking to order from this site. However I noticed that the part number for the springs is the same to the TL-S as it is for the TL.
So now I have some questions. Aren't the stock springs on the TL-S stiffer to handle the additional HP? I know the sways are bigger on a TL-S.
If stock springs are the same on the TL and the TL-S, then I can see having the same springs replace them. But if stock springs are stiffer on a TL-S, then replacing them with the same replacement spring that the TL uses would not show as much benefit?

the comptech springs are stiffer than the stock ones on the TLS, i am very positive about that. you will notice it when you go over speed bumps or so.
and to answer your questions, the tls stock springs are stiffer than the tlp stock, and the comptech is stiffer than the tls stock ones.
moreover, keep in mind that both the stock springs for the tlp and the tls have the exact same height, they only differ in stiffness. the comptech is 2 inches shorter and again, stiffer than the two.

the way you lower a car is by shortening the spring height...and since the spring height is lower (er, less number of coils), the spring rate will need to be higher to carry the same load as the stock springs. therefore, the ride on both the tl-p and tl-s should be about the same (sorta). the only real difference might be the tl-s struts. i believe these are firmer than the tl-p struts, and should be better *matched* for the springs than the tl-p struts. however, i don't think comptech springs really lower that much to have to make the spring rates so stiff. and i don't think springs have any bearing on hp, or vice versa.

well from the info i have the tls stock springs are in fact a bit stiffer, which i think is true (from my test drives befor i got the car). but yes i'd like to say that the comptech aren't low enough to ruin the ride quality. you can feel it but it won't hurt anything.
and yes, springs can only help handling, it can never add hp to the car.
btw, stan, read off topic, ray asked me to do something very stupid
