Another Paint Issue

While washing and waxing my TL this weekend I noticed some weird patch on my hood. It's not scratches but rather looks like the paint is bubbling or something. And it has a definite line to where it ends. Anyhow, I ran my fingernail over it and I could feel the impression. Don't think something tangible caused this (like with a scratch) but am clueless as to what it could be.

Anyone seen anything like this or have any ideas as to what it could be?

I've already got plans to replace the hood this year (remember, myne was a hail damaged purchase) so it's not too troubling. However, I am very interested to find out the cause of this. I may even run it by the dealership or a body shop soon to get some opinions from folks that can SEE the patch. I checked the rest of the car and did not see this occurrence anywhere else (thank god).

Same as yours, NBP all the way!

It's gorgeous when clean, but a pain in the a** to maintain. This is my 4th black vehicle,...you think I would have learned....but I just love me some black.

Any suggestions or thoughts on this weird patch?

Ever think it might be a repair by the dealer? They do that sort of stuff all the time. Repairing damage that occurred during shipping.

yep, I agree the dealer would be a good place to start. I would hope they wouldn't give you any hassle, if they do, I would let them this is unacceptable for a vehicle of this price.

Do you guys think that it's possible this patch was there all along and I just did not notice it? It would be great if it is something the dealer could fix.

I would approach it and present it like it had always been there. Unless you did something to that area, it has always been there and they should be responsible for fixing it.

If its a hail damaged car and you received a discount in price due to that reason, I would be interested to know what responsibility if any the dealership takes in any problems you may have with the paint. Keep us informed. Good Luck
