Another happy Lexan customer

I had one broken fog light lense and I finally did the removal and install this weekend. IMO - I think they look great and were certainly alot cheaper than ordering the new housing for close to $200 bucks each. Here are some pics:

You can't really see the crack, but here are the broken fog lamps (look to left of bulb)

Glass fully removed - still have to remove silicone

Lexan fully installed

back on the car!

I have that lens too, [mod edit] definitely does a good job with the lens. I had 4 holes in one fog lens and now I have none. The install isn't too hard, [edit] could probably give you a good step by step.

These were what I used:

You can search the forum for instructions on actually removing the fog lights from the car, then go to the below

Instructions I used for making the repair:

He's on ebay...in the search, type in "acura tl lexan lens" and you'll find him...his are "the original" listings. And, he'll email you the step by step if you can't find them here. good luck.

Raj is great seller and standup guy! Real GE MR-10, very scratch resistant (MR=Mar Resistant). Got a set from him last week and they fit very well. A man behind his words!

However BEWARE of the other knockoff from seller: jsalinas05! Those auctions usually start at $40. That person is a crook! I ordered a set thinking I was saving some money, DON'T DO IT.

I was sent some cheap plexiglass by jsalinas05 known as Hydrod (do a search) which scratched just by rubbing your fingers over it! Worse still, they didn't even fit! The were cut WAY too big. Unfortunately, I couldn't leave neg feedback because I bought it outside of Ebay and of course refused to refund my money!! What a thief!!!

Everyone ...

It's not hard to do this yourself ... a trip to Home Depot ... get some Lexan. Do a trace of your own foglight lamps. Saw and Dremel the fine points. If you're good -- 1 hr's work. It took me 2 hours 'cause I wasn't careful cutting with the saw. Make sure you get the high temp GE Silicon II ... use some clamps for it to dry for 24hrs. It's a great DIY. Total cost for me ... C$13 ... that's US$10 and the priceless satisfaction you did it yourself.

derrick is so right. I did mine 2 weeks ago and it was too easy. I waited too long and had to do some touchups inside the reflector area and then removed the metal shields too. I used the GE silicone but didnt notice if its the high temp stuff...oh well if it starts to fog I know how easy it is too fix now.

Good luck.

I couldn't find any MR-10 at home depot. If you are using XL-10, that will likely scratch and haze in about 6 months and you will have to redo it. It all depends on how much highway driving you do, but the majority of my travel is on the highway and I can't be doing this every 6 months.

For all of you doing this yourself from material at HOME DEPOT, be careful, they dont sell MR-10. Riontegra is right, XL-10 will haze and scratch within a few months, and you'll be doing your project over again. I coudln't get my hands on MR-10, at Home Depot or Lowes, and they couldn't order it for me either. So it makes sense to me just to shell out the extra 40 bux or so and just get the lens already pre-cut from Raj. Besides I've tried to use a Dremel and all, but the lexan just starts to melt and also I was never able to get the fine edges that I got when I bought it from him.

I did a search for Lexan MR-10, and got a few hits. Below is one.

https://secure7.nexternal.com/shared...ount2=11130928

FYI, Raj was given the opportunity to become a vendor on this site, but he declined saying he had only made a few sets, and was just trying to get rid of his surplus. Turns out he lied to me, and the admins, and was actually doing brisk business behind the scenes.

When confronted, he started bashing the admins, mods, and the board, and went elsewhere just to have his posts elsewhere treated exactly the same.

Most boards dont like commercial sales by various members as there are many horror stories out there. These boards are not generating profits for the people who run them, so they certainly shouldnt for people no one knows. Guys who arent contributing back to the forum they are trying to profit from.

For these reasons, and for the way in which he chose to handle the situation, posts pertaining to Raj, or any other person selling more than just their own personal property on these boards is not allowed.

Thanx Guys

Read my post again. This is not a forum to drum up commercial sales for private individuals.

I think I was pretty clear on this. DIY with the links provided, or search on Ebay, etc.

You glue it in so it doesnt matter, you have room for either size, but since it wont break anyway (unlike our thin glass units), and is easier to cut, and work with, I'd go with the thinner one.
