Another freakin new guy...

Hey all, I just picked up an '02 ABP TL-S with 71K on it in really good shape. I think I screwed up... It's got HIDs, 17" wheels and bad transmissions??? I can't afford this damn stuff!! What the hell am I gonna do????
Alright, just kidding. The truth is, I haven't even seen the car yet. I had my girlfriend buy it for me since I'm in Iraq killing people and blowing shit up. I'll get to see in in October when I'm back for a bit, and I can't wait! I figured I'd get a nice comfy car because I've got an '86 MR2 that I've done a bunch of stuff to, but it gets tiresome driving it around all the time since it's loud and cramped.
Anyway, thanks to all of you for contributing to this site, it really helped with my decision to purchase the car! It seems like it will be a great car, but I'll let you all know when the transmission takes a shit!

I'm glad to do it, you're welcome!

I have my eye on a 2006 TL tranny with 9700 miles on it... I may just buy it soon and store it...

Do we have any commercial pilot's in this bunch, or is this car too rich for their blood???

lol when 01tl04tl says tuck some money away be means $5K if you go to a dealer or about $3K if you go to an independant shop or $2K if you do a JY swap.

get them to lower the price by $1200 or do the 105K service.....nothing sucks more than buying a new car and then having to sink $1200 into it 8K miles later........

Great deal on the car.

Yeah yeah...... The dealer said about $4200, a rebuild place wants $1800. I checked around and found that tranny out of a 2006 TL for about 1200 with super low miles. I've done engine swaps on MR2's a few times, and have buddies that could help. I may just do the damn thing myself if I have time. That's a BIG if... I'd prefer to go the used 2006 TL tranny route since it's the consensus that these are superior to ours.
