annoying tick, tick, tick solved
annoying tick, tick, tick solved
Hey Guys,
I've been having this annoying tick, tick, tick sound coming from around the right gauge (the one that shows the fuel). I did a search for this annoying sound and it seems that many people have the same problem, but no solution. This sound doesn't happen all the time, but when it does... Damn, it drives me nuts!! The Acura service guys couldn't find the problem.
Well, today, I took the front dash out myself and taa...daaa, I found that there is a bunch of wires wrap with black insulation tape that is rubbing on the farthest lower right corner of the plastic panel where the gauges are mounted to. I can even see the scratch marks on the panel. I tested the sound by holding on to the upper vinyl lip (the vinyl part above the gauges) and wiggle the lip (mainly around the top of the fuel gauge). By doing this, I reproduce that annoying tick sound. I can see that the bunch of wires are sliding back and forth rubbing on the panel. To solve this, I just put a sponge around the bunch of wires and velcro it tight.
Sorry for this long thread, but I'm pretty excited and relieved that I found the problem. I even took some pictures, if anyone want to see them. I haven't test drive it, but I'm pretty sure that's where it is. Will keep you guys up to date.
