AMSOIL switch over questions

AMSOIL switch over questions
I just bought a 02 Acura TL with 86,000 miles on it from the original owners, who are 72 years old, $5,200. The car is immaculate! They had every service record from day one at the dealership they bought it from. I am really nervous about the tranny...at 26,000 miles the dealer installed some fluid/oil jet on the tranny after they inspected it and determined the tranny was in good condition. The tranny has never been replaced. But, as far as I can tell driving it the last week, it shifts great and runs great.
Now for my questions. I want to switch the engine oil over to Amsoil signature series 5w20 and the amsoil oil filter. I don't know what amsoil filter part I need to order?? Also, want to start running the AMSOIL ATF fluid, but I see a couple of different options and not sure which one to use?? Should I just do a 3x3 fluid change as explained in posts that I've read on here??
Thanks for all the help.

Fogot to ask when you guys are draining the tranny fluid out, does the car have to be level? I'm not sure how to accomplish that in my garage, not sure if I can fit under there without the car on ramps.

Congrats on the low mileage '02 !
It appears as though you're an Amsoil product fan. Their stuff is ok, but some of the top brand synthetics are just as good. The choice is ultimately yours. One thing that may be better to use is the Honda DW1 fluid....which is an improved "oem" synthetic ATF recommended for replacing the original tranny fluid.
You should be able to access the tranny drain bolt rather easily....being level is not a problem, but be careful when first breaking the plug loose. They usually are tight !

Yeah, I actually think that Redline would be a better choice than Amsoil.
But, a bit pricey !

Wow...there are some real pricks on this forum. I don't live on my computer like some of you obviously do. Gfaze, 12,8** posts, you really need to get a life, man, or a job. See you are in the great state of cali, how's the economy out there? More people like you need to spend less time being forum pricks and more time actually working at a JOB! Maybe then, you wouldn't have the rest of the country wishing california would just fall off into the ocean along with all the pricks that live there!

I'm guessing you routinely got the "does not play well with others" comment your report cards as a kid.
Are all people in your unknown location as entitled and snotty as you?

Redline have 2 different ATFs a Normal and a Racing one.. I dont know the exact details on WHY You Mix both but you use a Mix of the Normal ATF and the Racing Formula for the best results...
If somebody who used the Mix or know more about it could chime In to wonder us with Info about it.

Thanks for the info, but I'll stick with the recommended Honda "DW1" fluid.

Yeah, "DW1"...... it's the good stuff !
Why go outta the box for something known to be so critical as our finicky 2nd gen trannys ?

Honda has their brand oil, just the same as motorsports manufacturers have their own brand oil. I own dirtbikes, motorcycles, snowmobiles, and through research and many years of trying different oils, it has been proven OEM oil isn't always the best. This is just an example, Polaris sells a gallon jug of their top of the line synthetic 2 stroke oil for nearly $50, and it doesn't come close to Legend Performance or Redline 2 cycle oil. And, it was proven in tests done on multiple oils by an indepent person. That is why I'm interested in something other than OEM oil, not saying DW1 isn't great, just want to make sure I put the best in my car.
Thanks

Honda put specific friction material in the clutch packs of our transmissions. The also designed a fluid to be compatible with that coefficient of friction. This is determined by friction modifiers in the fluid. Thus explains why dumping any old "tranny fluid" will not work in all applications. It doesn't matter as much whether Honda's oil is better or not, the friction properties out-way that. These friction properties must match; use the Honda fluid for that reason. You can blend your own transmission fluid out a mix that contains friction modifiers and non-friction modifiers, but that's guess work. It may or may not work. Some have had success with Redline blends, others have had complete disasters. Stick with DW1 - That's what's best.

Honda knows best... At least with my Amsoil test that led into Puke and almost My trans toast, Honda owns Amsoil and Ill never try the Redline mix soo DW-1 > All.
