I don't use it...but I've only heard good things about it. I would defintiely reccomend a synthetic of some kind.

I had a friend who used and sold it on the side and he loved it. I don't have any details about it and don't use it myself but he said it was worth getting. A little pricey though, I think!

What's amsoil? I saw a truck with an Amsoil advertisement on the side at Home Depot the other day, and I was wondering what that was.

It, and a few others, are the best oil money can buy for a car. Is the sliperiest, protects the best, flows well cold, doesn't burn off or change when hot, lasts the longest and so on. A car using a good synthetic will show the same amount of wear theoretically at 200K miles as the same car using dyno oil at 100K BUT....there are a million opinions on this and the facts could be argued for days! But what I have said is my general belief. I will also venture to say that IMO Amsoil, changed with a good filter every 6000 miles will result in an otherwise taken care of engine a 250 to 300K mile useful life, or more. Again, just my 2CW.

Yay.

Combined with the oversized filter...say hello to long oil drainage heaven.

I use it, and since I buy direct from Amsoil's East Coast Distribution it works out cheaper than regular oil at the dealer since I change every 12,000kms

Noticed the engine revs very very freely and has more of that great high pitched windup.

How can I go about buying direct? Can you share contact info?

Thanks,

Amsoil is good oil. Not that much better than Mobil1 tho'. when you start to factor in cost - amsoil gets quite expensive.

As for extendted oil drains...go for it - but please use oil analysis @ 5k or so to make sure the oil is holding up.

Oil tends to act very different in different engines.

I use M1 SS 5W-30 with oversized filter. I change every 7500.

M1 is $18 for a 5QT jug at Wally -world. that sure beats Amsoil.

I used Amsoil for my 1st oil change. $100 for case of oil & 2 filters.
I noticed no difference in performance or MPG vs. the M1.

Oil analysis was virtually identical @ 6k miles of use.
