I use 87 on my tl-p
no issues get about 25 mpg
been doing it for 4 years now
but be warned, if you use 87 and don't take it out on the highway (only happened once, pure town driving it was odd) the continual stop and go will burn up those excess vapors so quick I did the math I got 11mpg that tank. use some octane boost once a month and drive on the highway, you'll be fine

I used to think my 99tl is suck on MPG, but when I really caculate my commuting speed from home to work is only I can drive 20mph or less due to traffic on free way or stopping light at local. So with my daily driving I get 20 MPG is not that bad.

Cruising on the highway at 80 mph with the a/c on and 2 guys in the car I got 35 mpg (on husky 94 octane). I was shocked because before that I received 33 mpg at the most.
My car has recent NGK iridiums, recently seafoamed, brand new air filter before I left for my road trip so it was running quite nicely. I absolutely love the TL on the highway. I got just over 700kms on 1 tank pure highway.

I have had my car for 1 year now, and have averaged 26.5mpg, I drive mostly highway, 40 mile roundtrip each day. I took a 1000 mile trip a month ago and averaged 31.6, with my best tank at 33.6mpg and 510 miles from that tank, it still had nearly a gallon left when I filled it.
