Alternative to mounting changer in the trunk?

Hey..

Instead of changing the entire OEM headunit in my '99 TL (non-navi), I'm thinking of just adding a 6 disc MP3/CD changer. I see there are a few threads talkin' about this already. I'm wondering if there is an alternative to mounting the 6-disc changer in the trunk. I'd prefer to have it easily accessible in the cabin. Is there anyway to actually fit it into the dash somehow?? -- maybe in place of that stupid OEM 4-disc holder/tray thing? That slot is probably way too small though. I'd like to be able to reach the changer. Also, will the single in-dash CD still work if I add the changer (for a total of 7 discs?) Anddd...if i hit the 'random' key, will it play tracks AND different CDs at random? Want something to be able to play tracks from all CDs at random instead of only choosing tracks from a single CD...

Thanks!!!!

P.S. I don't want to mount the changer in the glovebox (if that is even possible) because I use that space....

there really isnt any place to mount it in the car, you may be able to get it under the seat if its a slim unit??? as far as hitting random and playing teh 6 disc and the indash for 7 no. it will only be random from the changer

this is one of my few beefs on the tl. the glove box is too small to put in a changer and the center console wont work either. unlike ford where either is an option. ah well. my friend had his mounted to the bottom side of the parcel shelf in the trunk, at least its not on the floor then. besides that your best bet is in fact the trunk floor. sorry man.

I was going to suggest the center arm rest/storage bin, but I think that counts as what SatinSilverTypS was referring to as the center console... In theory (yeah, it sounds weird, but if you're really into trying to get the changer in the car where you can reach it), you could see if it would fit in the pocket behind the passenger seat, facing up. There would be a bulge in the material from the unit but it would be easy enough to run/hide the wires.... just an idea.
