Alpine Vehicle Hub

I was looking at installing the alpine vehicle hub VPA-B222 for my 2003 TL(http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/product...model=VPA-B222).
I have an iPOD connected to my HU via Blitzsafe but I am tired of using iPOD's interface. I want to integrate it with my Nav screen. In addition I may add Sirius or XM, DVD player etc later on. For iPOD I will have to buy a cable that connects to the hub. After going through the manual for the hub, I think I will be able to use iPOD through the touch screen of nav or using the small remote pod that comes with the hub. All this is possible because TL's nav is made by Alpine.

Has any one done this? I was told the total cost would be
499(hub) + 35(iPOD cable) +210(installation). I don't want to pay that $210 if I can avoid it.

I don't know if its worth it but it will definitely look custom. It will be sweet to control everything from the remote pad(kinda looks like BMW's icontrol).

your thoughts??

Definitely a great idea. I was looking at the vehicle hub when it first came out. Actually when rumors of it were going around that it was coming out. I haven't had the time to really look into it but from what I remember researching everything you said sounds about right. If you decide to go ahead and do it, I would love to see pics and hear how you like it. And install is probably something that you could do. I think it would be plug and play but I'm not sure.

its not plug and play completely. The manual says , the wires going to speakers are spliced. I am gonna do more research on this one. If anyone has done this, please post a DIY.

Any luck on this Alpine Vehicle Hub?

I'm wondering if anyone is using the Alpine Vehicle Hub, either version, there are two...?

Pluses/Minuses?

I want something that will let me use the navi screen to navigate the music on the ipod, and also display the song/track/artist info, play videos from ipod, and show pictures...all without messing up the current factory system.

Is one of these Alpine Vehicle Hubs the way to accomplish this?
