alarm question

if you jimmy a lock on a car door, does the alarm go off when the door is opened? I'm assuming not since it's the same mechanism as unlocking the door with a key.

Yes. The stock alarm will go off right when you put the lock in the unlock position. Only way to disable the stock alarm is with the fob or if you actually use your key to open the door.

The factory alarm wants to see the key cylinder turn to lock and unlock. If you're turning the key cylinder to "jimmy" the lock..... It won't go off. But it's impossible to turn the key cylinder without the key.

another common misconception, the stock so called 'alarm', is not an alarm, consider it to be just a keyless entry that can beep lol

NOPE... The factory alarm monitors the hood position, all 4 doors and the trunk position. It also monitors ignition postion and has starter disable. Depending on what model Acura you own... the factory alarm will sound a siren or horn when any of these zones are compromised. As well it will shut down the starter circuit and flash the lights.

Still would not call it an alarm either. Someone break your windows to steal something, it will NOT go off.

No basic alarm will go off if you break the windows. I install alarms all day long. Including Martix RSX3.5's. The basic security of the factory ACURA alarm systems have more security features than your BASIC Clifford, Viper etc.... I'm not saying that it's better. The only thing it's missing to match a good alarm is a shock sensor.

The Matrix RSX3.5 is a very good alarm. Props on the purchase!! But I've been farting next to your car for hours...... When you gonna come out?

uncald, i have glass sensor, shock sensors, hood, trunk, back up battery,etc......the only thing im missing is that the sensor where u come up too close and a warning beep that goes off, to warn, to step back...that wouldnt work in NYC. I also hear they have that cool GPS technology where I can track my car, and see where it went, and what speed it is going... cool stuff.
