Airbag sensor on passenger side???

Is there anyone other than me having problem with airbag sensor on the passenger side? When I just got my 2000tl, it was a used car, back in 2001, the side airbag light would come on and off randomly. Not all the time, just sometimes. I thought it's not a bog problem. Now, a couple weeks ago the SRS light came on so I took it to the dealer. They said it's the sensor that's broken. My tl has 76000miles on it, and they said it's out of warranty. If I want it fixed, it would be $600. Does that sound right? I thought airbag warranty is good for 100,000miles eh?

Do you have a passenger when the side airbag light comes on? If you have a small child or a passenger who puts down the seat and leans back the light will come one warning you that the airbag is temporarily disabled since it deploying might hurt the passenger. There is a section in the car manual that explains this.

yah the first thing you should do next time the light illuminates is check to make sure no one is in the passenger seat. If there isn't, then you may have a problem, but sorry can't help you there.

I don't know the technical aspects of the seat as well as some guys on this forum...

good luck though!

Hi,
SRS light turn on without anyone or any heavy object in the passenger seat is the sign of the sensor did not working. Last time the dealer change new sensor in passenger seat on my car (still under warranty), I take a gland at the invoice and I saw around $500 to fix this thing.
Good luck,
LV
