Smile Aftermarket Navi question...

Hey everyone,

I the new owner of a 2003 grey metallic TL type S no Navi. I
felt that they wanted too much $$$ for the stock one and figured I should be able to build a better one for about the same money is this ture or false? If true what system intergrates well in the TL? BTW I love this car very happy though worried a little about the tranny now after dping a few searches I guess I'll just keep
my fingers crossed

Well depends on many factors...brand, how clean you want it to look, are you doing it yourself, how hard it will be to wire it, and so on. But basically you'll most likely be spending more money and even more depending on whether or not you want to keep the stock deck or to amp the monitor deck. As far as brand that intergrates well...Alpine...that's the brand Acura and Honda uses. Be warned...Alpine is pricey.

You may want to do a search for NAVi on here. Someone has a real nice setup with motorized monitor. Its been a long time since I seen it but its sharp.

Alpine's Nav system and the one Lexus uses are the two best out there. To get one that's factory integrated and touch screen for $2000.00 is a great price IMO. Sorry to say it but should have gotten it with the Navi.

if you are willing to sacrifice your stock headunit, i think you can get a better nav (and audio) system but it's definitely more money. take pioneer's system, you can get a flipout monitor and their dvd/navi unit and having something really nice to build upon later by adding speakers, subs and amps. kenwood is nice because it is touchscreen, but you can't get a navi and dvd player in a single chassis like pioneer. i also saw a thread where a cl owner bought the navi gauge panel and did a oem-ish looking install...alpine monitor where the stock navi monitor is, relocating a/c controls to the stock stereo location, and of course you will need a new headunit.

I was able to get the Alpine NVE-N852A DVD Nav system and the Alpine TME-M790 Monitor both for 2k off of E-bay. I haven't got any prices for installation yet but I am assuming around 150-200.

The nav system that someone referred to earlier is in Snooks789 car he has a Pioneer AVX-7000 monitor which was replaced by the AVX-7300 and the Alpine navigation system.

Truth: You faaked up & either thought like a cheap ass or two( most likly) just was broke for the extra twoG's.
Simply: Dont bother yourself with NAVI
Now: Get the phat Panasonic head w TV
Then: Get two JLW7's w/ two 1000.0 JL AMP w/ MB Quart interior
After: You will have a bolt loosing, extraextra loud clean sharp hard phat ass system with hopfully some cute females in the car with you; in your home town ( so you can find your way around w/o NAVI ) giving you some head bumping PAC & Bone. HAHA J/K
