aftermarket audio system - HELP -

Do any of you guys have aftermarket amps and speakers running off the stock deck, do you hear a low hiss at any volume?

i recently had two amps, all new speakers, and a sub installed. The amps were running off a pair of PAC line out converters from the stock Bose deck. When I picked up the car the installers said I had a good amount of hiss coming through the system because of the stock deck and the PAC converters. Sooo he suggested I order a Soundgate 4-channel line out converter (LOC4.4). I picked up the car yesterday after having the LOC4.4 installed and the hiss is still there and NOW my IDQ sub is blown.

Before I order a new aftermarket head unit is there anything else I should try?

Don't use the LOC4.4 it will knock the signal down way too much and you'll get a lot of hiss since you'll have to turn the gain on the amp high. Use the LOCPREA from soundgate.

I never had any problem when i had line converters (before i went with a aftermarket deck) Id maybe find a different installer. Also make sure he bypasses teh factory EQ .

A little OT, but would a blitzsafe provide better audio than a tape deck?

I have my carputer running through the tape deck and hear hiss at low volumes. Everything else is stock, though.

Honestly i work at a car audio place for about a year and a half now. i would probably tell them to check the ground of the converter. when some installers do their ground they dun chip off all the paint by the ground that causes the ground connection not to be good and thats why your getting that feed back

What kind of speakers and amps are you using? And did you bypass the bose EQ?

The bose eq wouldn't be the source of the engine noise...

noise

I have an aftermarket headunit now but in my old civic I had the same problem. It was the ground wire, check that and it may have to be moved or if its on a spot with body paint sand the paint a little!
