correct, if you got a new intake, it will have a tube that you use to bypass that. That little flap in the bottom of the airbox opens when the outside temp. is below 25 degrees F or something close to that to warm the intake air up.

why would you want to warm up the intake air?

** anyone know what fluid is going through there? is it coolant/antifreeze?

re: 1999 tl intake

when i replaced the stock components to the comptech icebox, i had the same dilema. to make things more difficult, the instructions for my icebox did not make any mention to this additional feature unique to the 1999 model.

my installation helper was able to make some sense of all the hose connections and we did manage to bypass the coolant into icebox and everything turned out fine.

just make sure that when you bypass the coolant, you are essentially returning it back into itself. sounds sort of confusing, but when you get in there, it makes more sense. but basically you are returning the coolant right back from where it came from using the additional tubing that is provided in your icebox.

hope that helps
