Short Ram, literally, it's shorter, which means it helps the car breathe with hotter air, and CAI, it's longer, it gets the air from nearly the bottom of the car, which is colder. the colder air the more performance it gains.

Yup, yup. CAI gives you more power.

One thing about CAI is that since it's on the bottom of the car, it's a little hard to get to when cleaning it. On the other hand, short ram is right in the engine bay... very accessible and easy to clean.

Hmm..... I do have both the CAI and the short ram. I think I will be able to tell ya all the differences I found with them.

AEM Short Ram:
-Sounds louder
-faster response than the CAI

AEM CAI:
-more power during high end.
-Sounds deeper (I like this better than the short ram)
-the design sux, no mounting for the lower pipe. (I have seen some has it tho)

Personally, I choose the short ram because I want quicker response. Also, I don't like that the lower pipe keeps hitting the frame, although I have a rubber covering the place where it hits. However, CAI does give a bit more power in high end, and a deeper sound. So, it is gonna be your choice =)

If you want to squeeze another bit out of the intake, replace the filter. K&N sux! BIG TIME! Here is the filter I have used: K&N filter, Cheap Taiwanese filter, SS steel filter, and I am using Apexi Power intake now. Hee hee, if you want to know more about them, I will give you another breif review of them.

yeah i was gonna get CAI because i personally prefer high end power than low rpm response because I think TL lacks some high end power. But i didn't get it because of seattle's weather, i didn't want to risk my engine. Also, it's harder to install (but not that hard) and harder to clean/replace the filter in CAI. Now shor ram is louder? man... I will see if i can take it or not...

Funny yea? I have the lower mounting bracket(Doesn't match any holes, I had to drill and make one but it is solid) and was asking around to see if anyone had this but only one reponse.

Hee.... try the by-pass valve. I don't like it, I have seen some Accord fellow install the valve, and he has to cut the top pipe into 2 pieces. LOL. Hmm..... after you have installed the CAI, it is actualy easy to get the filter out. Lose one bolt below the bumber (located just below the resonator), and there is a piece of plastic that you can take out. Just at the bottom of the filter. =)

I just installed AEM CAI on my 2000TL and had no problem attaching the lower bracket. Just like the instructions said, it mounted into an existing hole that a small wire bundle was using. The above Honda link/pics look exactly like my installation.

When did AEM starting making that bracket on their accord CAI?? Does everyone else have that bracket?? Do we have to request for that bracket? I was just thinking about the short ram too because of the vibration... but that bracket solves everything!!!
