AEM: normal CAI VS. V2???

hey i want to put a CAI in my 2000 tl-p

whats the major differences between the normal AEM CAI and the V2

is the V2 worth the extra 100 bucks??

would the normal one give a pretty mean sound compared to the v2

The V2 really gives great power, I believe I would still do it again and get the V2 over the regular one. If you look at the dyno for the regular CAI it doesnt do much at all till very high in the RPM, while the V2 starts to increase the power lower down. It honestly felt like I added headers again, when the computer adjusted for the new intake. And the sound is really sweet at VTEC

get it off Ebay and put it on yourself...or wait to find a used one like I did if you want to save more money. It was very easy to install myself - you can do it with very basic tools

you are wrong my friend and the V2 gives power over more RPM's vs. the V1 intake.

lol another thing i like about the v2 intake is that i get to say my intake is made up of a dual chamber structure causing a cyclone of air moving around like a tornado. The only thing I don't like about the intake is the air noise it makes with the humming like as if there's air leakage when there really isn't. Other than that I love how it sounds when vtec kicks in. Makes the car sound like a beast.

ya the slight humming noise you hear at idle is kinda annoying, but I got used to it in a few days - and the extra power is worth it!

Does the V2 fit with the TypeS too? or just the TL-P?

anyone got dyno sheets, comparing both of the intakes? Everyone goes by their butt dyno, i havent seen no real dyno sheets on the V2 Vs. V1.

The only dynos I've seen for AEMs showing the huge gains that they claim is on their own website. And most of the people I've talked to (outside of AcuraZine) say that AEM's dynos should always be taken with a grain of salt.

In truth, the AEM v2 probably does produce gains on the car, but they're probably not quite as significant as what you see on the AEM dyno... Here's the one they provide for a 98 v6 Accord with an AEM v2 (they dont have one for a TL-P).

http://www.aempower.com/pdf/dyno/24-...ccord%20EX.pdf

The AEM v2 isn't available for the Type S as far as I'm aware. For the best gains, the Comptech Icebox is the best for the Type S although sound wise it doesn't sound as nice as the CAI.

There is no V2 for the Type S, only the regular.

The AEM CAI transformed my TL-S into a beast. The 7000 RPM growl is AWESOME. I noticed power gains in both the low and high RPMs. If fact, I've noticed a lot more torque steer since I've gotten the intake, which is somewhat surprising.

edit: 1000th post!

OK. I guess now the only decision is to go with the icebox or the CAI. I've been leaning toward the icebox. Reminds me of a fart, silent but deadly.
