AEM CAI sound?!?!?!
Hey guys. I finally received my AEM CAI on Friday and I got it installed right away. I have noticed some things about it. Why is it that sometimes the intake isnt as loud as other times? Has anyone else noticed this? Like sometimes i'll floor it, and I can barely hear it scream, and other times i'll floor it, and it will be loud and throaty. Is this normal?

couple things. Sometimes in our cars, especially when it is hot when you floor it, the tranny wont downshift. Or sometimes you are at the point of no return in the gear and the tranny wont down shift, so gunning it will just leave you there. Then there are those other times where you just get thrown right into V tec and you have the scream. Dont worry about it. The intake is reall quiet when not in Vtec then right before and right when you hit v tec it gets nuts.

The thing is, I even put it in tiptronic mode, and it still wouldnt scream. It has been really hot here in Denver. I wonder if that has anything to do with it....

Yea I've had something similar like that happen to me...sometimes it would sound crazy loud and other times it wouldn't even make a peep. Sucks when you trying to rev on a girl and it doesn't make a sound! 
Didn't notice if the tempature had anything to do with it, so I can't say. Also I didn't really use sport shift until recently and it's working fine now. When your downshifting...are you going into like 3rd when your in 5th or are you going from 5th to 4th? Same thing when your in 3rd...you have to go to second.

It only makes a lot of noise right before v tec and when vtec hits. Also it wouldnt make much noise over stock if you are in neutral and revving it, that is what exhaust is for. I have an injen and one thing i noticed is that my injen makes a rumble that starts before the aem sound starts. My friend's type s' aem screams right before v tec. I get this consistent rumble form 3000 rpm and up.
