Aem Cai ?
Aem Cai ?
Ok, I just bought a 03' TL-S in April and doing my first mod's now... I really want a AEM CAI but am afraid of water coming into my engine and, excuse my french... f*cking up my car... should I even consider the AEM CAI?
Secondly, I'm going to get H & R sport springs... are they any good? Do i have to replace my shocks at the same time? I know these are stupid questions, but any advice would be awesome.... thanks,
Paul

get the bypass valve for the water problem
and as for the h&r, i have them n i like them. u dont HAVE to change shocks, i didnt change my shocks. but with the drop, ur stock shocks will wear out faster, n u gotta change em sooner or later.

Tons of info through the search function but briefly:
With the AEM, purchase the bypass valve. Someone recently drove through water and it saved their a$$. Also, Ijen is popular.
H&R, Comptech. You'll find both here. A few (like myself) have Eibach's. Also, coilovers (ie teins) work well for some. Best to stay in the "sport" realm unless you want a realllly stiff ride.
No, spring and shocks can be done separatly. It is a bit redundant (springs come off for shock install) but stock shocks will be fine for a while.

You should get the bypass valve for your CAI. There's nothing to worry.
H&R sports springs pretty decent drop with comfortable qualilty.
Good luck!!

Got on 287 at the turnpike and the floodgates opened. Holy S it was raining hard.
Got to the offramp and it was flooded. Drove very carefully through it. Wasn't too deep.
Got on Easton Ave and I swear every intersection was under water.
I watched cars drive through with water halfway up the front bumper. My car is lowered and with the CAI I was sweating.
Started to go through and realized the water was really deep. Was too far into turn around. Barely made it through.
Got to the restaurant and popped the hood. My bypass valve was soaking wet and there was water around where the bypass was.
Thank the man upstairs that that thing worked. The best $40 investment I ever made.

Give me a break! I've had an AEM CAI on my Integra GS-R since 1999 and have NEVER had any problems. And believe me, I've driven through plenty of water here in Florida. I've driven in storms so bad and hit puddles so deep the entire filter was soaked! Still no problems.
For this intake to suck water all the way up it, the filter would have to be completely submerged. If you're ever in water that deep, you have bigger problems than worrying about your engine! Your entire car is floating away!
The point is, I wouldn't worry about water suck. And, definitely get the AEM CAI; it's worth every penny. The bypass valve isn't worth a crap!
