Advice on front end noise/bearings/alignment
I developed this "CH-CH-CH-CH" noise I believe from my front driver side. It only happens when driving straight or turning RIGHT. It is not a metallic sound and isn't very loud, but bugs me with the windows open. Only happens at speeds > 15mph.
I already (for other reasons) changed the rotors and pads, so it has nothing to do with those (sound doesn't change with pressing the brakes anyway).
I'm guessing it's the thrust bearing making noise (car has 191K after all). I'm in need of new tires AND and alignment at the moment too.
Do I need to get this checked out before the alignment? That is, does changing the bearings (removing hub, etc) send the alignment out of whack?
Thanks!

find the bad bearing before alignment, or you may end up in a tree~
less than 15mph noises are often in the cv joint- Im guessing you looked for torn boots and leaking grease already?
a good tech can find the noise with a stethascope
note the gen2 has an issue with right rear wheel bearing failure
makes a funky sound that travels thru the car

The noise happens at > 15 mph, at least from what I can tell. Nothing visibly wrong.
I did lift the wheel, put the tranny in Neutral and spun it; I didn't hear anything - probably only happens under load.

you need the car running with wheels turning in gear (on a lift)
then listen with stethascope
with wheels stopped-engine off- you can ck for play in all directions
the inner cv bearing often makes noise getting on freeway when its going
you need to get it in the air and listened to with more than human ears
