Adjusting Headlights

Sorry I tried searching but couldn't find anything...

I replaced my HID bulbs with new replacement ones, but the lights seem to be facing a lot lower than it was with my factory headlights. All I did was just replace them, and they seem to be in there tight. Not sure why they are facing lower than the stock ones were. Can anyone help me adjusting them to get more light towards the road ahead of me?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

did you put the bulbs in the exact same way they came out- with the external electrode thing in the same position?
Did the bulb base fit flat and the spring clip arm went over then up to lock in place?
Should not need to adjust housings unless they were replaced or the car was lowered and requires a real adjustment
Did you get the right bulbs?

Sounds as if the bulbs aren't seated, or wrong bulbs.

Is it lower on both sides? if it is, then more likely you have them in correctly. Your quick option is to turn the gear screw to adjust the beams.

anything higher than 6000k is going to put very little useable light on the road surface ahead of you

The only reason for the aim to be off is the bulbs are installed wrong

Both bulbs are aimed low. Car is not lowered. The cut out on the bulb fit around the notch on the housing. Pretty much the way it came out is the way it went in. Not sure what else can be cause of this.

As 01tl4tl mentioned, 6000k will put out more lights, and maybe it was designed to be aimed lower to avoid legal issues.

You have to go to the dealership!! They will adjust them for you. Just tell them what the problem is and they will know what your talkin about! I had the same thing after I got my black headlights.

You can adjust them yourself. If you open your hood, right by the light housing, you'll see where you can turn a screw from +/-. Using a philips screwdriver, park on a flat surface in front of a wall or garage door. Use lines in the wall (brick walls and garage doors work great) and just adjust the light up. Should take no more then 5 minutes.
When I took an overnight road trip from NJ to SC, I raised them up a little bit so I wouldn't have to turn my high beams and would still get more light on the road.

Yeah that too. I just didn't trust myself to do that but after paying 25 Bucks to have it change barely at all I'm going to have to do that.

No problem adjusting headlights

Hey all...I just wanted to reply that I was able to adjust my headlights without much problem. I have an '01 TL and the only issue I encountered was on the driver side. There is a triangular plastic piece (between the battery and frame) that I had to pop out to get to the adjustment screw. Other than that, I just pointed my car at my garage door (thanks for that suggestion! ) and adjusted both lamps up. One note, they adjusters on either side work opposite of one another (clockwise/counter-clockwise) depending on which way you need to adjust your headlights.
