Question adjustable head rests

Do the 2002 TL models have adjustable head rests? By adjustable I mean forward and backward. If so, can they be retrofitted to a 2001 TL?

As many on this list have discovered, the headrests in the '02 TL-S do *not* tilt forward, despite the manual saying they do. I'm not sure if this is also true for the TL-Ps. As for a retrofit, if the TL-Ps don't tilt then the point is moot.

The TLP's headrests do tilt. As for whether they fit or not, best bet is to go to a dealer and try it out.

Do the TL-P headrests look like the 99-01 TL or do they look like the 2002 TL-S?

They look like the 99-01 models, not the TL-S.

Hey Tim , assuming they fit, how much can you get the TL-P tilting leather headrests for? I really hate putting my head all they way back to get support.

yea tilting is alot better but the type-s headrests are the best lookin headrests i've seen in production cars... its sporty, kinda makes u think if they did it on purpose to make an "A"

You're kidding me?!?! Why would the eliminate that feature for the type-s?? It sounds like it's a different head rest, but it doesn't make sense.

No 2002 TL has head rests that tilt. The non Type S. I wanted to put them on my 2000 Inspire. I hate the fact that I have to put my head back to touch the head rest.

I never actually use the headrests. I think the notches in metal bar that goes into the seat in my TL-S aren't cut right b/c it only fully locks in one position and it seems kinda loose. Is there something wrong w/ my car or does everyone have this?

only one of the 2 sides has the locking mechanism. We all have the same thing.

yeah, but do your headrests have a lot of side-to-side play when they're locked in?

Only if I move them myself. They don't move by themeselves if that is what you mean.

The only problem with the tilt headrests, is I find when any pressure is put on them with youre head, the tilt goes backwards. Is their any way to lock them in place?

They dont fit. The notches are on the wrong side. Plus it doesn't match the shape of the 2000 Seat. I tried

We are interested in the TL-p seats for 99-01 TL. It is clear the TL-S seat is a different seat all together. Do you know if the TL-P headrest will fit the 99-01s

HOLY COW!!! $175 each.....that's crazy!
Guess I can live with my non-tilting headrests.
