Adding DRL to US model TL's

Does anyone know if it is possible, if not simple to add daytime running lights to TL's sold in the US? Canadian models, it is a standard item there.

I know in my old Taurus it was a simple module install, the wiring harness and everything else was there, just needed the module. That could have been easily obtained at the dealer and installed.

Just wondering if anyone has tried this or knows about this.

Thanks!

I looked into this a few years ago because I wanted that for my 2000 TL. I asked the service maneger at my dealership he said a few others also had asked about it to. I don't think the module would work on our cars. The service manger told me the had treid to do this with an RL & they had problems with the auto off feature on the car & it did work. My dealership had some kind of DRL module in the display case at that time but he told me it would not work on our cars with auto off headlights.
I have used my regular lights since day one of ownership all the time when driving. This will be 4years next month I have a little over 42,000 miles on my TL & the lights are still as bright as ever.

There are aftermarket DRL kits...if anything i would hook it up to the High beams with reduce power. This is how most other cars do them...instead of 55 watt, they reduce it down to 25 or 12 W. It's basically a relay that you can by for a couple bucks, and hook it up to a wire that is live (power running through it) when the car is on.

I have them on my car... as mine is from Canada... and I love this feature. I just think it looks so cool, and I get a lot of compliments on it, because people are not used to seeing DRLs on a TL in the US, especially in the south.

Its kinda funny..... as up here in Canada, people tend to take off or disable their DRL's...... They take them to import shops and tell the guys to "unhook" them. I personally like them, as you can see oncomming traffic way better then not having them on. It has been proven in our province that DRL reduce the amount of head on accidents. I think they are great........ just my 2 cents!!!

Cheers.....
