adding to the 2001 Bose system??
I've been to many different car stereo installations shops, and on Bose website. Everyone tells me that you cannot add a different amp and subwoofer to our stock Bose system because of the propriatary 5 channel amplifier. I think the sub channel is only 150 watts right? I wanted to know if you think Bose themselves would make a different 5 channel amp that had a bigger sub output, like 300 watts, and then I could put my own subwoofer in the trunk. Anyone ever thought of this possibility? I dont wanna rip everything out and put a whole new system just for more bass.

I mean I dont want to have to replace EVERYTHING (deck, wires, speakers, amps, and subs) I would much rather replace one part (the main amp) and throw a better sub into a box and set it in the trunk. Maybe Bose would charge $1000 for that better amp, but I would rather do that than pay $3000 for a new system plus damages for ripping new car apart............

i don't know too much about audio.. but i thought there was a way we could keep our bose system and just add a box w/subs or so with its own amp and wire it into our system.
is it possible to run our stock bose system w/ an aftermarket one, running together?

Yeah, I've got my box/amp/12"speaker from my CL still, and I've been debating whether to put it in... Can't decide. I'm thinking about making a new box before I do so though... decisions decisions... but yes, it can be done....

I don't think that you can run a different amp with the bose system. I had a 93 Nissian Maxima with the bose system and when the head unit started to mess up I had to buy a new head unit for 600 or change everything. Even the speakers becasue they run at like 1 Ohm. Something like that. My brother knows more. But I ended up putting in a hole new system.
But if you can replace the amp to get more watts i would be interstead.

You can add anything to the Bose system. I did.

Its possible to upgrade your audio system will keeping your orginal bose system. All you need to do is buy an RCA converter for about $20 and have it installed to your factory head unit. You can then run RCA wires from the factory head unit to another amp, which can be use to power an stronger subwoofer.
This way you can actual feel some REAL bass wihout having to turn the volume to max!

for the wires its best you tap into them before the amp. to do that you will need to remove teh rear seat (not hard at all)

Sorry for posting so much, but where else is a good remote turn on wire location? It was such a bitch getting the head unit out. And now my amp isn`t even powering I have my ground connected, power connected (to positive), and turn on wire connected to the Yellow/Red wire behind the headunit. But there isn`t any power. Does anyone know what is going on?
