Acura's Antitheft System vs Boomerang2

One of my friend just got his car stolen !!! (((( How really good is the Acura's antitheft system? From what I understand from the TL owner's manual, the car's transponder interrogates the car surrounding to ensure a valid key is present before the car can be started. Can our TL be easily stolen even with the Acura's original antitheft system?????????

www.boomerandtracking.com offers Boomerang2 which is a wireless-based tracking device used to track stolen vehicles and provides instant theft notification. This system utilizes the cellphone cells wireless network as opposed to GPS technology. From what the compagny claims, stolen vehicles fitted with their system can be located everywhere, even if they are inside buildings, in shipping containers or underground etc (systems using GPS technologies would be rendered useless here) Cost for installation is approx $500 CDN with monthly fees of approx 10 dollars.

Is the Boomerang2 system worth being installed?

Just wondering.

I do recall seeing on the 6 o'clock news (last year or two years ago - I forget) about the latest tests done on the boomerang. This news reporter had a boomerang outfitted car and he drove around trying to hide. Each time the boomerang trackers pin pointed his exact location. Even the cops he interviewed were impressed. So yup, boomerang does work.

I guess the question of is it worth being installed depends on your individual situation. If you live in an area known for car thefts, then yes, but at $500 to install and $10 a month, you might be better off to see if your insurance will cover vehicle theft if you live in a low-risk theft area.

Get a Clifford alarm with BLACK JAX anti-carjacking self recovery system. This will work in two ways If you are carjacked with the engine running the thief won't know your personal code. The car will shut off in a few hundred feet & they can't restart it. The other way is even if they would have the ACURA coded key & alarm remote they can start the car but it will only go a few hundred feet & cut off. They still would not have your personal code. The only way around this is Tow Truck. I thought about getting LoJack tracking system but got the Clifford Alarm with Black Jax. I don't need the tracking when the car will be just a few hundred feet away if stolen from me. I also knew not all of or police cars had the tracking device or would they even take the time to look for it. www.clifford.com
(see Black Jax under products)

The Boomerang2 in conjunction with an awesome Clifford system would definetley do the job. More and more car jacks are being used w/ flat bed trucks and tows, which Clifford protected cars have no protections from. The Boomerang could get the cars, even if they have hit a shipping container or a delivery truck. BTW, in the Boomerang2, if your car moves its position w/o being started (ie. flatbed/tow steal), boomerang automatically initiates a trace. People have their gotten car stolen and recovered w/o them even knowing! That piece of mind is very comforting. No LowJack for me. The installers of Boomerang hide the unit, even from you! I find that a smart decision, as car owners usually show off, and possibly show off the location of thier loJack. You can't always trust yer friends

(sorry no pic)

This was a thread while back ago about stolen vehicle. That was 01 Honda Accord and you know this car has immobolizer system.
After I see these kind of recovery stolen vehicle on my shop, I think I rather give up my hope finding my car after my car get stolen.

IMO, if the theft really wants your car(assume he/she is good), consider it GONE!! It already happened to a MB dealer a while ago... they lost 1 CLK and 1 ML over night.....

True. Boomerang IMO is good to have if you have an expensive car or a collector's car. Or if you got an expensive sound system or aftermarket parts added to your ride. If you can afford to spend thousands of dollars modding your car, $500 plus $10/mo monitoring fee is a small price to pay to have a peace of mind. Boomerang is not for everyone; but the technology is there for you if you want it.

I happened about 1 1/2 years ago.....
