I own a 2002 acura tl type s that surprisingly now needs a new transmission. I dont have enough money to get a new one but i have an idea . My friend is selling parts from his 2001 accord v6 vtec and i was wondering if his transmission would fit in the tl. It was replaced by honda and has 25k miles on it. Any information would be greatly appreciated . Thanks.

Sorry to hear that man, but it shouldn't be a surprise, known issue. Sorry to say that the accord tranny will not work with your TL.

There are options other than another crappy TL tranny though. Check this thread from the CL side:

yes that should work with full compatibility (even if the accord does not have sport shift)

wait till someone whose done it comments - for example you can use an oddesy transmission in the car.

hey guys im new here have a question i have a 3.0 99 cl with 113000 mile and transmission is about to go. i found a 99 tl 3.2 transmission for cheap the job is costing 600 instead of 2000 for a rebuild.wondering if it would be the same transmission?thanx in advance

so what would be cheaper? replacement 2nd gen tl tranny, oddessy tranny, or 07 tl tranny? i just bought a tl not knowing about theyre transmission problems.
