Any of you Right Coast members get them yet??
I expect mines soon.. since 4IG is so close..
Ground from anywhere in Cali is less than 2 days..
so FedEx should be faster than that for 2nd day..
I'd just like to see them on the TL.. but the silver ones with not so funky glowing numbers is what I really want..

Sorry guys, looks like they won't get to you guys until tomorrow. Some of you may not get it until Friday, but by Friday everyone will have their gauges, FOR SURE.
Bad news.... ... I hate to say this, but they won't fit on the 02 TLs. The 02 gauges have some sort of plastic thing under the needles so it isn't possible to just slip the indiglo gauge overlay over the needles. You can cut the overlay without ruining its ability to glow, this may be an option. I will sacrifice one of my extra sets and tell you how it turns out. I already cut it a little to try and get it to fit but didn't have much time.
I'll post pics in a sec.

Heres some pics of the 02 gauges. If you inspect them you'll see that under the needle is a black piece of plastic. This makes it impossible to slide the gauge overlay under the needle enough to get it on over the needle. =/
I actually cut the hole on my extra set bigger, but it looks like crap. I'll try to make a small slice on the tach overlay and see if I can get it on looking good. Making cuts in it like this doesn't affect its glowing.

For installation I had to overcome the obstacle of getting the wires to come out of the casing without drilling holes, because I know you guys want an easy install. After some thought I found a way.
First off, when they made the gauges they only had a pic to go by that showed them where the wires should come off the gauges at. As such, they made them come off pointing a little to close to the edge of the casing:
You'll have to sort of cram the wires so they fit in the casing:
Now that the wires are in there, route them like this:
I know its kinda hard to see, but you want the wires to come around and go under the gauge LCD:

The wires will come out the back of the casing like this:
Now for a few words on putting the overlays on the gauges. The back of the cluster looks like this:
The red circles are the tabs on the gauges. You must bend the tabs so they are straight carefully. Then insert a small flathead screwdriver in the small round hole that is in between the 2 tabs you bent straight. Turn the screwdriver 90 degrees to press against the back of the gauge and it will slide out nicely.
Now that you have the gauges unplugged you just slip on the indiglo gauge overlays. The gauges come with double sided tape to hold them down so they don't affect the swinging of the needles. It is a must you use this tape.
The speedometer and tachometer are very easy to put the overlay on. It just slips on. The fuel/temp gauge is harder because there are 2 needles. This is the hardest part of the installation actually, so I took lots of pictures on how to do it.

First you slip it on the fuel needle, this is easy:
Then you rotate it upwards a little:
Heres the first tricky part. You have to gently (be careful now!) push the temp needle to point up as much as possible. Don't force it, it won't point straight up. Then you bend the overlay and insert the tip of the temp needle throug the hole:
And finally, you slide the overlay down and over the needle. This is easier said than done. You will have to pull kinda hard to get it over. Just be gently and don't pull on the fuel needle any harder than you have to and it will go. Take your time. The needles are delicate buy will withstand some small amount of fiddling with.
Thats about it! Now you should have the overlays on and the wires routed:

I will post full detailed, start to finish instructions later, I just thought I'd share what I had found so far in my small amount of messing with these things. The plug you will want to tap into is, I'm pretty sure, on the back of the driver's side fusebox. I'll find which one exactly and post pics, etc. I need to take pics of how to take apart your dash to get at your gauges to start with, but for now Tim's FAQ will help. Though when I used that FAQ I found it difficult to follow. I will clean it up a little and show you more pics and more detailed instructions.

yea i got the gauges today. i try to look at tim FAQ and it look scary. I don't know anything about car, so it just scare the heck out of me. I hope Nate can give an easy instruction or anyone in the bay area want to go for a group installation or something? I really need help on this. Do you guys think the dealer will do this if i call them?
#132
Nate, do you think that piece of plastic on the 02's is on the TLP and the TLS? I was wondering if the TLS might be the only one different since, my TLP gauges look like the previous gauges.

Calvin,
The dealer most likely, will NOT do this for you..
man, I'm in the Bay Area as well.. since you got yours today, I'm hoping some will be waiting for me when i get home..
But as for installing them, I think before I can help anyone, I'll have to try it first.. I don't mind trying it on my car and giving you tips..
Nate,
Would you mind getting some pics after you put them into the car to see how well the indicators shine through the clear plastic?
Also, these tabs that we need to bend straight.. how bout a closeup of that so we dont fock it up

So the end is in site. I am in san diego and have no guages today but am looking forward to tomorrows mail.
Nate, thanks for taking the lead on this whole thing. Also thanks for the instructions. The ones you published looked pretty clear. I will look forward to the part about getting the dash off etc...
I am in San Diego and am pretty handy. I am sure that as soon as the instructions are available I will be working on this thing. After I get my set in, if someone wants to come over I'll give 'em a hand.

As for the tabs, I took some pics but was too close and they were too blurry. Tim has a nice pic though:

Sorry for those who didn't get them yet. You WILL get them tomorrow, or I'll be yelling at 4IG.
UW, I'm going to mount the switch somewhere it won't be seen, since it isn't the coolest looking switch. Under the dash somewhere probably. It isn't something I'll play with hardly ever.

How are you guys receiving these gauges? Through USPS, UPS, FedEx, or what? Just want to know around what time I should expect them tomorrow. Why didn't I receive them today? I live in Houston...
Still waiting,
Peter.
ps. can someone post pics of the switch?

Sorry for the crappy pic, alls I got is a webcam.. :p
It has adhesive on the back so you should be able to stick it under the dash..
The blue button is of the on/off of the indiglo
the black is for the on/off of the numbers

Ok, is there something wrong here??
My numbers don't light up very well at all.. they flash when I first give them power but the dim right after.. it's like it's not getting enough power to them.. but the face itself is lit a bit..
I've tried it on the 7.5 fuse, and the 15 amp fuse.. same thing..
The indiglo works just fine.. but I want the numbers to be lit..
HELP!

If I find out which wires to tap into, I'm gonna go ahead and install them tonight..
I found that if you apply more votage to it, the gauges actually light up with a slightly blue glow color to them without anything on.. but when you turn the indiglo on, it looks green..
Still can't get my number to glow nicely yet though without the face lighting up at all..
Hopefully, someone can find out where and what power to draw from..

Cool!
Edub, are you holding down the button? Play around with pressing and/or holding down each of the buttons (seperately of course). The face should fade in and out when holding one of the buttons, then you press the other button and the face turns off completely. I noticed my face pulsed a little, but I think it was just from the crappy, rusted ass battery charger I was using.
