Acura says nothing on TL-S
Called client services and they said there isn't anything on a TL-S. I don't think it will be out for another year. Why did the dealer take a deposite without any official information. Someone said the color codes are out and it will be a 6 speed but the dealers I have contacted say they know of no such thing. Does anyone have an official document? Jens do you know anything on this?

I talked to a friend at Acura today. There WILL be a TL-S. Possibly in April/May but thats not fo sho. Cosmetically, atleast the front bumper will change. It WILL NOT be a manual. 260 or 270 hp. Information beyond this is probably just rumor. Dealers can take deposits because its a fo sho thing that the TL-S will come out - they don't care when it does or what it is, they just want your money.
Personally, it kinda sucks because I just bought my TL. Not even 3000 miles yet... and theres no way in hell I'm gonna bite $5k or so to sell and get a TL-S. I still love my TL though. Let's just hope they give the TL-S a screwed looking front bumper and a pinched ass like the CL.

Come to think of it, maybe by the time the '02 6-speed TL-S is out I'll swap for a TL-S, then all you with a '01 TL-S will feel me!
Wooo hoooo! I'm now officially a freak.

Lets face it, not all dealers like to work. Some are satisfied with taking $ from people coming in off the street. As well as the MDX and TL have been selling, they don't have to work to hard. Others are true car people and know how to dig through the system. There has been an internal memo to the owners of Acura dealers that discuss the TL-S. That I have not been able to see or get a copy of. However, my dealer did show me a printout, off the Acura dealer computer system, that shows the color combinations and a partial VIN assignment. The VIN numbers usually include codes that indicate certain features: it helps the service depart and insurance companies indentfy your vehicle type. Next year's list includes coding for a 6speed trans. It does not say whether or not if its full manual. Furthermore, if you call a dealer over the phone, I suspect that you will not get confirmation as the public announcement is not slated till Feb. If you have a working relationship with a dealer who does more than collect a sales commission check or Acura dealership owner you may find that the TL-S is a reality.

Yet another post confirming just how stupid many dealers are. This guy who wold you that you could get your cylinders machined to type-s specs--does he think that is the only difference between the S and non-S cars? These dealers are so stupid and most of them will tell you anything. It's pretty lame when you go to the dealer and know more than they do. For you to make a TL-S engine/exhaust you would need to round your cylinders, install a two stage intake, increase the compression ratio, put on a freer flowing cat and exhaust, plus other things.
These sales guys really are idiots. They shoudl read some of their own sales booklets. Plus, they should all be mandated to pass general knowledge tests on the cars they sell.

Well, after all, sales guys are sales guys. What they really care is your $. They're not engineers. A couple of sales guys at a Honda delerships have told me that the Accord doesn't need TCS because it has ABS! What a joke! I bet they both failed the "Honda 101" training class. (I doubt if they know what TCS stands for.)
By the way, when is the Detroit Auto Show?

Agreed... the vast majority of salesdrones know very little about the product they're selling, let alone ones that have yet to be released.
Be patient guys, the TL-S is coming...

I see your point, but I think the dealers hands are tied. Since there has been no "official" announcement of the TL-S, he can't tell you if it's really coming out or not (even though it is!). I'm sure Acura would be pissed if their dealers were leaking information. Of course, some dealers DO leak info as someone in the CL forum has seen the internal memo that mentions the TL-S and changes to the CL-S for '02. But it still isn't official and the dealers are still legally bound not to say anything until it is official.
Sad as it seems, I trust these forums for information about my car far more easily than I trust a dealer.

Heres what I don't get, if that dealer showed a print out on paint codes and tranny, wouldn't all dealers have that print out? If Acura is so concerned not to leak out info, why would they put partial codes in the computer? Do they want to stir rumors and speculation on the dealers part. We all know how knoweledgable the dealers are. If they can't order them yet why not put out a complete code when it is time.

Well, you have to figure that even if all the dealers have the information, it hasn't been disseminated to everyone within each dealership. Some managers may be more tight-lipped about it than other. That having been said, I'd imagine that the salespeople are some of the last to know anyway.

Honda (Acura) has this link that the dealers can be tied into, to get the latest info. My dealer was telling me about this. They are not tied into it. So probably alot of other dealers are not tied in either
Plus this is not something that they want to speard the word on, it will hurt sales on the 2001's
Nighthawk didn't you read my post about the new TL's that Acura did a commerical on ?
It is coming and I am on the list for a blue one

Sporty X type
I called our local dealer here in COLO. Spgs. & spoke 2 the new car sales manager, & he said, yes the TL type S, (as he said it's called!)will be out in March. He said he can start ordering from Factory on Dec. 18th. He knew the colors, (like someone already posted!)He said it will have the 6 CD changer, memory seats, the variable ride assist. He didn't know about the 6 spd trans. details, he said they are suppose to be out March 1st, but said it would be more like mid April to Early May, to expect one. He had NO confirmation on PRICES yet! I told him about the "BOARD" & the info we get from one another, he said, "you guys probably know more than us dealers, 'cause Honda waits to make it OFFICIAL to the dealers, before they give them all the details"!!!
And yes, Snook, he saw a picture of some kind on the blue one, & he said it was SWEET looking, even for a poor quality pic! (Sorry 4 the long post!)
