Acura Quality?
Once a sales person told me that the reason that one of my friends got a better deal on an MDX from one dealer to the other is because the MDX he was being offered was manufactured in Cananda.. and the build quality isn't as good as it would be if it were in America? Now when I heard this.. I called bull ****.. because I just didnt see how that its possible. But then I started to hear this from another dealer too.. so now I ask you guys.. is this true? Now if this is true with the MDX does this apply to our TL's??
And how would you be able to tell where our car was manufactured by looking at the VIN or ne special place on the car itself??

Honda VINs say where the car was made. VINs beginning with 1 is made in the US, VINs with 2 are made in Canada. VINs beginning with a "J" (like the RSX, TSX and the RL) are made in Japan. The quality is definitely different as the very noticeable tighter tolerances of Japan-made cars.
Civics, (and Acura EL) as well as the Honda Pilot/ Acura MDX are Canadian-made from Alliston, ON.
Honda Accords, Acura TL/ CLs (even the 04 TL) are made in Marysville, OH. They say that with the agreed upon "North American" content of the import brands, cars made in US/ Canada need to have a certain percentage of parts developed and made in North America.
I don't know if the Canadian QC is lower than the US QC because the company is the same. As a Yank now living in Canada, I do notice that Canadian-made Hondas have fewer options, weaker engines and less choices in colors and trims. To this day, I still don't know why they differentiate the two markets since they apply on the almost the same climates and roads.
My sister-in-law from PA loves her Canadian-made Pilot. Me however, with one Canadian-made (Acura 1.7 EL) and one US-made (3.2 TL-S) Acura, I don't see a difference in quality, only that they ARE noticeably inferior than the Japan made ones.
As with Flounder's Legends making it to 200K +, I don't think we would ever see that on the TL especially if it is made here. It is simply not the same.
Don't get me wrong, I love my TL-S, and to this day, I still can say I didn't regret getting the car. It is only when I park beside a TSX or even a Prelude that I notice the huge gaps on the doors, the bulging door handles or the misaligned trunk lid that I feel that I was driving an Oldsmobile instead of TL. This ain't bashing the TL, but stating mere facts.
Despite this, I still wouldn't touch a G35 (or even an I35), though. TL is much better IMHO. However, A G300/ 400 or even an ES300 is a diffeent story.
