That's not the offset, you need a number between +45 and +55.

Also, you might want to weigh them to make sure they're not too heavy.

that's your offset all right, however you might want to do more research on the rims that have a +42 offset rubbing. I think they might.. basically the offset is :

If you look directly down onto the tire, look at the center (left-right center, not front-back cener). now ir our case having a stock +55 offset, you would count over 55mm twords the outside of the tire. and that is how far our car's hub ( the thing with the 5 lugs on it) sticks out. The lower offset you go with the offset, it will move the tire further out from the car. Not a problem in most cases, however if you go too low, +40 for sure but I think +42 is pushin it, your tire will be flush with the body. Now when you go off bumps your tire will no longer bounce up into the wheel well, like it's supposed to, because it is further out, it will bounce up into the fender, rubbin' like crazy..

for example I have the H&R sport springs on my TL. This was before I lowered it. If I had +40 offset rims it wouldn't really matter about rubbing because I am sooo high there is plenty of room for the wheel to bounce/move.

Now after the drop, As you can see, if the wheel was out much further than +55, I believe guys can get away with +42's like said above, but you can see there is no room for the tire to bounce up and down if was actually flush with the body. It would rubb the crap out of the inside of the fenders or bounce up into them hard, depending on how far out the tire is, how low the offset is. That's why guys will "roll" their fenders, it will gain them an extra few mm by bending up the fender on the inside..

hope that helped with the understanding of the offset thingy? I was confused until Tatewaki helped me understand a few of the specifics. Enjoy.
