At Downey Acura they ran out of loaners so they rented a 99 Civic 4 door Lx (talk about gutless)

For my window master control recall I took it to Thomas Acura in Covina and got BRAND NEW RSX (base model though)

As a former Integra owner I gotta say the RSX is one hell of a handler, even in base form, I wish my steering system was as accurate on my TL-S as it was on the RSX. And yes that steering wheel does feel great in my hands.

Took my car to Acura 101 West in CA today. They have a fleet of 15 loaners ranging from TLs to Integras. I called ahead and scheduled my appointment around getting a loaner. They gave me a 4 door Integra, I was scheduled for an RSX loaner. They had some kind of mechanical problem with the RSX, no big deal though, I have a car to drive. The RSXs that they have are all loaded. Any dealership that says they don't have loaners is full of it. Acura and American Honda Finance give the dealers these cars.

So if dealers get the loaner cars for free from Acura, why wouldn't they want to have more of the good stuff on hand? Every dealer should have RL's, TL's, MDX's, maybe even a cherished NSX for the extra special customer.

Once i got a base model teg with a cd player and leather wheel. It was brand new with only 500 miles on. Another time they gave me the TL-s demo they had, because they didnt have a car for me and my dad went nuts when they wanted to rent us a ford fiesta. And the last time i went they asked me if i could drive stick, i said yeah, and they gave me a used gs-r they had on the lot. I was happy all three times.

I want to ask this question again since I didn't get much response. What type of service you do at the dealer get you the loaner cars. Because I never get a loaner car, I want to know if the dealer is been cheap with me.

Ray Laks Acura has always given us 2000 or newer TLs, never had anything less. The car could be in for an oil change, and if the service writer knows I dont have time to wait, a loaner is given.

My Infiniti dealer also gives me 2000 or newer I30s to use, never anything less, and NEVER had to go to Enterprise. As long as you make an appointment, the dealer SHOULD have a loaner for you. If not, ask to have a demo, used or new car off the lot to loan out, you should not have to drive around in a Geo.

Any time that I have had to bring the car in for more than just an oil change I get a loaner car. Anytime I have had work that will last more than an hour or so they give me a loaner car. The least amount of service I had done and they gave me a loaner car was the time I took it in for an oil change, tire balance and rotation, SRS light, and a bath. I always ask for the loaner and schedule service around it. Anytime they do warranty work the dealership should provide you with a car.

Almost all dealers will give you either their base model or next up from that, regardless of whether you own the flagship model, it's just business, as their top-of-the-line vehicles rarely come stripped, and they can't risk losing $60k every time someone gets an oil change. IMHO, you have to be on the pipe to let your dealer wash your car, too many horror stories, remember: they're not detailing it, they're just washing it, big difference.

They gave me the NSX because I had a lot of pull at the dealership back home. Everyone in my family drives an Acura from that particular dealership. My father has an NSX, mom was driving an RL at the time, but has since switched to an MDX, brother drives a CL.
