I know this topic was up recently but I thought this was kind of intersting....

I think Coupe sounds better than "contemporary". If the "S" in Type-S stands for "speed"....well that's just whack! I read that there was no specific meaning for the "S "....not even the fact that it alphabetically supercededes the bare bones "Type-R"

 

yes, "coupe" makes much more sense than "Contemporary"

and S..... i think it means sport? becuase Honda's Type-R cars are pretty much all out street racers so R probably stands for "race"
Acuras are higher class and more luxurious, and the Type-S models are fast without sacrafising all of the ride quality and comfort of higher scale cars... for example the bare-bone integra type-r is crazy for a daily driver while the rsx type-s can get you from point a to point b comfortably... or in a hurry

Actually, it *does* stand for speed. That lamea$$ Acura Style magazine they send out every few months had an article a while back where they mentioned it.
