Acura Care, extended warranties

Since I confirmed my '03 TL is not covered by the extended 7/100 transmission warranty, I feel somewhat naked. Has anyone had good/bad experience with Acura Care? Other extended warranty companies? Price/coverage/service?

Normally, I wouldn't consider a warranty on a Honda product, but...

Thanks!

I drastically overpaid for my AcuraCare warranty, but I earned it back in every repair I could find, until it expired at 100k. I wouldn't buy it again, but it sure is nice to have that zero-deductible, drop-it-off-for-a-new-loaner-anytime feeling, even at 60,000 or 79,000 miles, for the smallest problems.

I felt the exact same way as you did... Naked without the 7/100 coverage (my '03 was also not covered based on the VIN)...

I picked up a 7/75K No Deductible Acura Care extended warranty for under $1000... Don't remember the exact cost, but I think it was around $925 (I have the receipt...just not handy)...

Acuracare

I have a 2003 TL and bought the extended comprehensive warranty.
No claims yet but just discovered that the crinkled black vinyl on the window trim has peeled off. Dealer tells me that this is not covered by the "comprehensive" warranty. First time I tried to claim and it is being denied so what good is "comprehensive".
Any one has a similar problem or can offer any advice

I literally have the exact same problem and the dealer wont cover mine either which I think is stupid because its obvsious the paint sucks. I am thinking about calling acura or something like that.

On my model, the trim is not painted but covered with a vinyl film.
This is not acceptable on a premium brand like Acura. If I knew there would be such problems, why spend the extra cost for Acura ?? My next car will be a Nissan or Mazda whcih cost way less.
Let me know if you get anywhere with Acura head office. Acura warranty sucks.

Yeah pretty much they all suck and I just wish ALL the paint would peal off at least that way it would be all one color.

That is the problem with extended warranty. When you tried to file a claim, it is not covered.

They will cover anything that is not needed to be fixed.

NYbsbl04, he didn't get ripped off if his $1650 warranty got him $2000 worth of repairs. What kind of math are you doing?
I will agree that it wasn't a good price, but he made up for that, as I did when I bought my 7/100K warranty for $2500. I made SURE I had more than $2500 in claims, even for nitpicky stuff like seat tracks, noisy electrical fans, the seat heaters, the non-CD-R playing stereo ($700 repair!) so I made sure it paid for itself.

Because he paid $1650 to fix $2000 in repairs as opposed to $800 to fix $2000 in repairs, he also has paid more because of the $100 deductable. I got mine for $800 I believe from the dealer along with a $0 deductable. Thats my math bro.

Yea...that's what I thought when I first heard about the extension...

But it is definitely based on VIN ranges...and mine is not in range...

Not only that...but the recent class-action lawsuit is based on this same range (that's my assumption), because when I checked my VIN against the lawsuit site, it indicated that mine was not included in the class action suit...

damnnn, i paid 650 for the acuracare when i bought the car CPO. i didnt wanna have to deal with things like heated seat problems etc. since it was CPO i have the 7yr/100k already, but it was the accessories i wanted to cover. i guess it was cheaper since it was already CPO?

Yeah, I paid about $650 for 7yr/100K Acura Care when I bought mine CPO. That's a small price to pay for some piece of mind. Hell, if the NAVI or VSA go out, that will more than pay for itself. I think I got really lucky on the price I paid for my Acura Care.

How many miles did your cars have though??? Mine was more expensive becuase the car wasnt CPO and it already had 72k on it and they prob had me pay more for the warranty becuase I paid so little for the car hahaha

I bought the 02 SSM 72k TL-P over a year ago w/warranty and Navi for only 14500$ from the Acura dealer..so not too bad i think...

I still think it was worth it..even if I over paid a bit.. It covered my ass and I still have to bring it in for several small things again..

As for the vinyl door trim peeling, that is a common problem with these cars. Mine only has 1 tiny spot that's not bad enough to warrant replacing. Here's a tip though because I used to write service. Acura and the dealers will consider that stuff along w/ the black B-pillar trim "normal wear" items....when it's really a fit and finish item. I got my B-pillar trim replaced under warranty since I worked at the dealer. If they ask if you run your car through the car wash tell them no even if you do because that's ammunition for them to tell you it's "abuse" or something. Any warranty past the 4/50 will be comprehensive mechanically but not for cosmetic things. Jaguar (who I worked for was like that..and they suck big time). People would come in at 10k miles w/ a worn leather driver seat bolster and want it replaced and we couldn't do it. I believe trim like that is a quality fit/finish issue and should be replaced though. Call Acura customer service and see what they can do. Don't stop with the service writer. Dealers have plenty of $ and it's much easier to give a pissed off customer something than have to hassle and argue..trust me...I gave stuff away when I didn't want to fight...put it on our internal shop ticket and got rid of the angry customer : )

Regarding my post above, my car only had 4900 miles on it when I bought it CPO. The car was about 6 months old.

If anybody needs a good extended warranty the one to get is Universal Underwriters. I work at an Acura dealership and can tell you that universal covers just about everything. Get their comprehensive package and the powertrain gets covered so long as you can prove that the car has had all recommended service.
