Acura-branded XM radio?

I was back in the dealer today having my squeaky moonroof taped (yay, quiet cabin again), center console fixed (yay, no more driving with my elbow on the console to keep it closed!), and steering looked at (fine now, no loose screws, yay). I happened to see an Acura-branded XM receiver with tape player displayed, with the external antenna. It looked like it had a Pioneer remote attached to it. The dealer was offering it for "$509, installed". Does anyone have this system? if so, what do y'all think of it? I will have a satellite system installed eventually, but having an official Acura solution might work out better for me. I wanted to ask about it but the dealer was about to shut down and I was in a hurry.

DAMN, talk about dealers generating excitement about nothing! I called in to the dealer today. What they are selling is the Pioneer XM Radio receiver. It connects to your factory factory system and comes with a remote. When you look it up on XM's site, the total cost including antenna is $249 (includes rebate). So the dealer wanted $250 for installation!!!!!! Wow, what a markup! I'm sure that Circuit City or Best Buy has lower installation cost for one of these.

Or you could buy the parts and do it yourself.

If it had a remote could it be the same Pioneer FM modulator that SwampGas & I have in our cars That ACURA dealer needs to be spanked & spanked good. The price of $509 for what I already have in my car :wow: You could get a real XM Head unit for that price not the modulator. The only reason I did not get a new HEAD UNIT for XM was because I did not want to change the factory speakers. I also did not have the money to get all new system so I took the cheap way. I love XM RADIO its woderful regular radio sucks.

Swampgas, I'm not a mechanically gifted person like you are . Your installation photos were great, though! Best Buy is an official XM reseller and they have this system in stock. They are continuing to offer free installation (on all systems over $99), so I may take advantage of that.

And FTM, you're right, the dealer absolutely deserves to be spanked . What a rip off!
