acclerator pedal slack

what causes there to be a slack in the acclerator pedal that causes the vehicle to lurch forward unless you push very slow to avoid jump forward when depressing pedal. Thanks all Texasgoat

allegedly...a dirt throttle body and intake manifold..
but don't quote me on this.

I had the same problem, to fix it I had the car running and adjusted the slack on the accelerater cable at the thottle body by using the loosing up the front nut on the throttle cable bracket and tightening up the back nut until I heard the engine rev up. (I also had the intake off, that way you can see the butterfly valve move. Just tighten up the front bolt when you get it where you want it. You don't want to get it too tight where the throttle is always applied though, be carefull. i had to adjust mine almost an inch from where it was before. Then clean the cables and spring area with some throttle body cleaner. Good luck.

Mine does that too. I was thinking dirty throttle cable or something. I'll try adjusting the cable and spraying some stuff on it as you suggest.
