... and it wasn't even my fault. I just dropped my gf off to get her truck which was just fixed (rotors & brakes). we both got out to get her keys and payment. i parked right next to her.

we were parked side by side, she was to my right. i backed out with my steering wheel turned to the right, so i am now behind her. All of a sudden, she backed out too and hit me. smashed my right rear door. she didn't even get a scratch b/c she had the steel bumper on her high truck (an '00 nissian frontier).

my dad seen it and he's seen alot of accident 'marks.' he said that we'll need to replace the whole door. we went to one guy and he said the same thing, plus paint and stuff and said the estimate would be around $1000! went to another place and 'she', yes "she" said it would be no problem cause all she wanted to do was pop the 'dent', repaint, and adjust any lose trim. and her estimate was going to be only $300. window and everything still works - halfway that is. then is stops. the guy above said that my (i forget what's it called.) like the beam in the middle of the door is bent and that's why he'll need to get the new door for us. i think it's more of a dent, but most of it is a dent. But in this case, the dent is high so it like created a 'crease' to say, at the top of the door (you know how the TL doors are curved in a way). i'll try to get a pic.

my question to you guys is:

where can i find an inexpensive door?
i dont know how they come, but all i want it is the outer part -where the paint is. i think everything else is fine. my gf hit it, so i do'nt want her family to pay alot, so you gotta help me out.

I agree that a junkyard might be the best bet. I assume 99-03 all have the same doors. does anyone know if the window trim is the same? either way I wouldn't think that would be too difficult to replace.

 

Damn that sucks. The $300 quote seems a bit low. Are they repainting the whole side or just going to touch up the areas that are messed up?

 

they are painting the whole door, plus they said they'll have to repaint the quarter panel to make the new paint blend in a little more. i'm having trouble finding used doors. how much are new doors? btw, are the 99-03 doors the same??

 

does anybody know any good body shops here in Mass?

 

You don't need the whole door, all you need is a new door skin and will cost you around $250 for the part.

 

from the sounds of your post the inner frame of the door is fubared so I'd go w/ a new door. keep looking at used preferrable for same color. even if you have to pay shipping it would be worth it.
