Okay, this has happened a couple of times, how about to you? Let's say your driving about 20 to 40 MPH and you wnat to pass someone, so you step on the accelerator, right? Well, what happened was the RPM's went to 4 to 5 to 6 thousand and the car went nowhere. It was almost like I had the car in neutral (but it was in D5) and I pressed hard on the accelerator. Has anyone had this happen to them?

have ur car check out dude... i go under 2000 rpm and the thing goes and i have RIMS too

The only thing that I can think of is the torque converter. Get it check by the dealer. The torque converter just transfer the power from the engine(flywheel) to the wheels.
