ac unit noisy

Why does my ac unit make so much noise when I turn it on? Seems like evry minute or so some kind of motor kicks on. Car has about 120k on it so it could just be gettin old. How much to fix this, anybody know? Other than that I think its working fine. Anybody else having similar issues with the ac unit.

It's probably the radiator fan you hear kicking in. Which is normal.

the passenger side, radiator/ac fan should run for more than a few seconds
Look under the hood at the compressor for the AC- its front section spins/moves when the ac is engaged- watch for it as helper turns ac on and off
Its a clicking noise

If the freon level is low from seal leakage, it will cause the compressor to engage for a few seconds and then turn off- on--off-on --off but not make cold air

Well it definately keeps turning on and off, but i do get cold air. How cold? is hard to say, but feels cold enough. I can actually feel something kick on every 30 seconds or so. I will take a look and time it tomorrow. I'm thinking take it to the stearlership, at 120k the AC might be in need of some maintenance.

What kind of noise? Belt screeching?
Measure the temp. of the output air.

you dont need the dealer for this
there are special AC shops who will charge less and do a proper job of refilling if needed

Look under the hood and see if that front part engages and releases/freewheels.. and thats the noise you hear

mines does the same thing it comes from the passenger side sounds like its behind the dash sounds like some motor is engaging, could be some to do with the vents switching from foot vent to top vent? only happens when i leave it on auto. its probably adjusting something, to do with the climate control.

Same here, my climate control is usually on auto. I noticed this noise and vibration occurs while ac is on or heat. Turns on for about 40-50 seconds turns off for 10-20, then back on again. Over and over again. Still haven't had a chance to pop the hood.

Anyone ever figure out what the issue was with this, in regards to when auto-climate control is engaged? I think I may have a similar problem..
