AC/Heat issue

Has anyone experienced their AC going on when they use their heat. I decided since Fall has arrrived to check my heat- GOOD THING! The heat blows out ice cold air! It seems like the AC compressor is going on when I turn the heat on.

Think it could be a thermostat? I know I don't post much here, but I would appreciate any input anyone has. Thanks a lot!!!!

I could see why the compressor would come on in some weather conditions just to remove the moisture form the incoming air and keep the windows from fogging up. But if it's blowing cold air and you have the temp set to something warmer than outside then something's wrong.

turn the temp control to 90* then to your desired temp that's what i have to do to make mine work right.

That's not a bad idea to make the mixing doors go though their full range of motion - especially if they've essentially been sitting in the "full cold" position for most of the year.

I have noticed the same thing. I cranked the heat to 90 and back down again and that seemed to work. This will be the second winter I have had the car and I did not notice this problem last year.

last winter when my heater went out...the mechanic firs thought it was the thermostat but it was actually the blower motor inside the dash that went out. If the thermostat went out then your engine temp would either be really hot or would take forever to warm up. So if thats not the case with your car...then its not the thermostat.

No heat

[Thanks to all for your responses. Tried turning the heat to 90 then back to 85 & I made sure AC off was showing - still ICE cold- ACK!!

My engine temp is running fine. I think I will take it in this week, I'm hoping its something that's covered under my warranty. LOL funny I know - nothing seems to be covered!

to see the lever that operates the hot water, raise the hood, and it is located near the center of fire wall (cable from dash). Watch it operate.
