Question 99TL Vs. 04 Jetta GLI 1.8T Manual

I have a stock 99TL and a friend of mine just got an 04 Jetta GLI 1.8TL and i was thinking about who would win in a race if i do race him. As you know our stock TL's got 225hp while on the other hand the GLI has 180hp but thats olny cuz its got a turbo. The GLI also is a 6 speed. The TL only a 4 and its SS. If i were to race him who do you think would win? Take into consideration that i dont have anything in my trunk, no system or anything and id be the only one in the car when i race him. Who would win? TL or JETTA GLI? Let me know what you think before i decide to race him.

Don't underestimate the 1.8T from a roll. It'll keep up with ya for a while.

But in a long race, say from a stop to like 100, you'll bag him.

ya don't sleep on jettas, all he has to do is spend about 3 - 400 on a chip and you will get demolished. besides, the GLI looks bad ass. a friend of mine has a gti 1.8t and bought a chip and ran high 13s his first time at the track.

its not bull***t. Do you know how well that car would have to be driven to hit 60 in 6.9. Theres a slim chance his buddy can drive as well as the testers for a magazine. In a real situation the TL will win. All we have to do is hit the gas. No shifting is necessary.
