99 Trany problem? Thoughts please

I have a 99 TL with 79k - one previous owner.

Had my CEL and TSC lights come on and car was running as smooth as normal. Went to Autozone and had the codes read

P1491 - EGR
P1676 - TSC signal line failure
P1739 - 3rd clutch pressure switch

Took it to a local trany shop to have them look at it as its a 99 and not longer covered by Acura. One Franklin later they tell me that its not the 3rd pressure switch that's external but pressure inside the trany. $1.5k just to drop the trany and open it up. Estimate $3k. They also reset the CEL codes.

I picked it up to get a second opinion and noticed that the car's idle when stopped or in park is way low and its stalled a few times. One other new issue is when stopping the car now downshifts shifts hard into 1st. When taking it to the other trany shop the CEL came back on after 40 miles.

Low and behold the 2nd trany shop didn't get any of the same codes but found one new one

P1106 - BARO Circuit.

The other shop asked me to drive it around for a week and get as many codes as possible to diagnose the "real issue" especially after there wasn't any trany codes. The car is still shifting hard into 1st when stopping and the idle is still way low when stopped or in park and has stalled a few more times.

Any idea's or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

time for a rebuild (I would not go this route) or get a rebuilt one from acura with a warranty.

Its possible you have a ECU issue. The barro code is something in the ecu. You may want to actually bring it to the dealer where they can more accurately test the codes. Especially since different codes come up every time.

If he suggest to do something with your TL, you do it.

I'm just fortunate that my '99 still has its original tranny at over 134k!(knocking like a maniac on wood!)

Well I took it into the dealer and here's what they found:

P1491 - EGR Flow Problem - $535.00 to fix
P1106 - PCM - $1330 to replace

They don't know if I have a trany problem as well. Do you think that the PCM could be the cause of all my problems?
