'99 TL With Transmission Problems

My wife has a '99 TL with 45,000 miles & our dealer just sent it out to have speedometer recalibrated. Now it is taking longer for the transmission is shift up to the next higher gear & it is slipping whenever it downshifts to the next lower gear (all in auto mode, not manually). Has anyone heard of similar problems? The service manager replaced the trans fluid, but it is still slipping. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bob

You are probably just another “lucky” person with bad transmission. So just make sure that you get a new one before your warranty expires. Go to your dealer and be persistent and if you do a search here you will find a lot of similar cases as yours. Good luck.

Thanks Marco--
I have an appointment next Tuesday to take the service manager on a test drive & hopefully he will order a transmission. Do you know if the replacement transmissions are new, or are they re-built?
Thanks Again,
Bob

They are re-built. Do not forget to be persistent and if your dealer won’t listen to you, simply try to find another one. You do not want to end up having to pay for it yourself. It is a known problem, you can tell them that.

Hey see if you can get a 5 speed transmission put in your 99, I'm really curious as to whether this can be done or not

Bob, can you let us know how the dealer diagnose your transmission.

I am curious if Acura service will hook up to your car's on board computer to read the feedback from the various sensors in the tranmission.

Thanks.
