99' tl. 2nd tranny lasted only 6 months....
well bad news my acura buddies...... its time for TRANNY #3.....
1st tranny: died 75k
2nd tranny; died 85k (installed jan-05)
now im on my 3rd tranny.....
i cant belive the 2nd tranny only lasted 6 fucking months. im thinking twice about keeping my car. my best bet is to sell it before i hit 100k. i had many plans to mod up my car and now my hopes are down.. i've invested over 3.5k already just on mods and i doubt ill spend a DIME more on this piece of shit. i even kept it easy for the first 1k miles. so im hoping to sell my car aroud 95k i just want this car to get me thru college and ill get something else later on.... 
i also have two engine mounts broken wich i also need to take care of dealer quoted 570$ i said no thanks ill go somewhere else.... ahhhhh acura sucks
all i gotta say is FUCK ACURA
for replacing fucked up tranny's with fucked up tranny's.

Sorry hit enter before I was finished...
2nd Tranny- 110,000 miles
3rd Tranny - Just got in May '05 and it feels like its going
And they also hit me with the engine and transmisson mounts story, but i had them replaced b/c the said they wouldn't cover the tranny if it went again and i didn't replace the mounts. Grand total $600... Talk about putting me over a barrel.
And I like you also took it easy for the 1st 1000 miles, just to break it in and now when i go to acclerate the freakin pos just sits there and the jumps into gear. If its wasn't for me trying to get a house within the next year, this car would've been gone!!!

Pimpravi, this is no good... my car is now at Sunnyvale Acura for transmission
repair.. I guess I need to accelerate my new car search to replace this troublesome
car... My 02 TL-s had 3 major problems before, leaked AC line, pwr steering rack
leak and now transmission ... Fortunately they were covered by warranty, but just
waste of time to make trip to dealer.. Can't believe I spent $34K on brand new car
with this kind of trouble..
AcuraTL99, when you feel 2nd-3rd gear upshift jerks like sh**t and long upshift time, it
is likely that clear starts to slip.. (like manual car clutch is fading..)

Just got back my TLs from Sunnyvale Acura. It is working normal as for now.
The service advisor said they put a re-manufactured gearbox in. The main
reason for this failure is overheating.. The re-manufactured one has more
cooling line and it should have less chance to fail again... Not sure how true
it is.

Update: My check engine light came on last nite and the acts like it doesn't want to go past 3000 rpm but once it does its fine. I HATE THAT CAR, I REALLY DO. I have put so much money into the maintaince of this car that I haven't been able to make any a/v mods like I really wanted to do. I seriously considering moving on to something else. I can't take it anymore

i got my car back yesterday... tranny is fine... i just need to replace the engine mounts
they didnt tell me wich ones (125$ to diagnose). i've called a few shops.. job is gunna run 300-400 dollars.. still 120$ less than the acura stealership.

Could'nt you say the engine mounts broke because of the tranny failure? When my tranny went out the car was jerking pretty violently and I think it might have broken the mounts. When I picked up the car from the dealer they said that they had replaced them.

how many mounts did they replace?.
there are 4 right?.
plus some kind of "stiffener" on the battery side..
either way...i felt a difference when mine were replaced.
easy with the stiffener..
