99 navigation system questions
Can you get into the maintenance mode on the 99 navi systems by holding menu, map, and cancel for 5 seconds? I tried it but it didn't work.
Also, a while ago people were swapping region files (the 99's hard drive is only 170MB so unlike the DVD owners we have to get different files for different parts of the US), anyone know how they hooked their hard drives up to their computers? Its a PCMCIA hard drive but I couldn't hook it up to the PCMCIA slot of my laptop, its too big, but I didn't think people had to buy one of the USB (or IDE) readers that you can use for your desk top.
The other thread about hacking the DVD system has renewed my interest in playing around with the nav system. I figure it'd be fun to try and change the background images, but long term I'd like to get rid of the stupid disclaimer screen.

He knows everything about the hard drive Navi system. to go into the maintenance menu, you have to push "ok" when the system loads up then do the menu, map, cancel thing.

Has anyone with a '99 actually gotten into the maintenance menu? I tried what OU Sig said to do and it still didn't work me. Do you have to let go of the buttons after 5 seconds for it to work?

Start from the menu (not the map). Press the top, second and fourth button on the right in that order in RAPID succession and hold them in.
Let us know if that got it for you.
