'99 Navi hard drive dead... help!

Help!

The hard drive in my '99 navi died. Right before it died I was able to pull off the files to my laptop, but I don't trust their integrity. I tried putting the files onto a compact flash card but the navi is still not happy. I'm guessing the files I copied are corrupted. Using an MD5 summing program I got here:

http://www.fastsum.com/download.php

These are the checksums I got. If the checksums are wrong, can anyone out there create a par recovery set for me so I can rebuild my files? BTW, my file set is the one that includes Texas.

I'm hoping for a kind soul out there that can help me. Thanks in advance.

do a search on this site - there are lots of similar threads - I would say just look for a used Acura DVD unit off Ebay and put it in. they use the exact same hookups and mounting and are MUCH better. (long story short)

I have considered changing to DVD, but I was hoping to repair this thing super cheaply. I had an extra 256Mb CF card and bought a $5 adapter.

I guess I forgot to mention that I probably have the oldset versions of the files.

well I dont know what your meaning of "cheap" is, but I got the DVD unit off Ebay for less than $300. More than worth it to me, because the coverage and useability of the old hard drive system really wasnt even worth having if you ask me.

256MB?? I have a 512MB CF. Search the site, I know you need 512MB.

A couple of regions are small enough to fit on 256Mb card but 512Mb is better to get for flexibility to reload larger regions at a later date. SC (texas) region is one of them.

Stinkycat your versions are old so you are going to have to hope the person that helps you rebuild what you have has that same version, doubtful.

Why not bite the bullet and get a dealer to reload one for you? Or get one of my drives? www.navhelp.com Either way you will get you the latest version as well as all the data in its entirety.
