Unhappy '99 Acura TL air conditioning

I just gave back my 96 Acura TL and replaced it with a kick butt '99 Firepepper Red Pearl TL with full woodgrain kit, Burlwood knob and only 12,000 miles...

I put on the AC the other day and I swear it seemed wimpy... Wimpy like not as cold as it should be. Was it just me?? It's been off all winter I imagine so maybe that's why, perhaps?

Has anyone else noticed this? The air in the 96 TL was kick-ass...

And yes, the "AIR" was ON and all the vents were opened...

Have it checked. I could cool my house with the A/C in my '99. It's the best cooling system I've ever had in a car.

I have a 99 TL and my AC is awesome. It cools down and heats up my TL pretty quick.

I see you live in NJ... with automatic climate control in our cars, unless it is really warm out you have to place it all the way onto 60 for the A/C to fully engage. After it's fully engaged, you can lower the fan speed... Chances are it's still chilly out so even on a low setting, you still have some heat coming out too... If you want your car to be 62 degrees when it's 55 degrees out, it's probably going to put heat in the car more than anything.

Noam

That is correct, or you could disengage the fully auto climate control mode and just run the straight a/c. Do this by just pressing the A/C button. This will allow you to not do what Phatty said (although Phatty is correct) and allow you to feel that artic blast that you are so badly wanting.

This happened to me w/ my '99... normally gets very cold fast... then one rainy day, it wouldn't de-fog my windshield, and seemed not as cold as usual.

Took it to the dealer thinking it may be a problem w/ the AC pump or the refrigerant being depleted. Turned out the AC fuse just went out. So a simple fuse replacement brought back the ice age in my '99...

So check the fuses... might save you a lengthy trip to the dealership.

The A/C in the 99+ models is better than the old TL models. This was a newly redesign A/C unit. Its suppose to be abale to cool a small or midsize house. This is what ACURA said about it high capacity A/C. On my 2000 TL I have had no problems with mine yet. I also run the A/C onece a week even in the winter time just put it in the warm range.
