99-01 Modification Procedure (Per ALL 7 members' request)
99-01 Modification Procedure (Per ALL 7 members' request)
Ok, I have had several members asking the similar question in regards to my fogs that I had. Here is some instructions from my recollection. You may have better ideas or squence in completing this mod but here is what I have...
I'll try to make this as simple as possible. (make sure you take every safety measure possible before attempting this modification)... And you are doing this out of your discretion.
In order to have the fogs to sit as far back into the bumper as possible and not like 95% of the fogs on the TLs (99-01) on the forum, you need to find the right ones. I tried to look for the same fogs that I had, but cannot find them anymore (from Pepboys). Anyway, if you are able to find them, make sure they have plastic housings. (Please read number 4)
1. Disassemble the outer housings and roll flat the back-side of the fog... The (make sure it's even until they are only about 4-5" thick)... I can't recall the exact thickness anymore, some search on this issue will better your measure of how much room you have between the fog hole and your bumper.
2. Make a template of the fogs' outer shape
3. Take off the bumper and stick the template on AND cut the fog hole from the inside of the bumper with a dremel (make sure you have a set of goggles and all safety measures when you do this!)
4. These types of fogs usually have to screw tabs on the sides. Bend them outward (so that they look like two little ears)... These tabs are to secure you fogs when installing.
5. Fit the fogs and mark your spot to drill and scew into the side tabs. (you screw inward, so please find a set of nice screws to add alittle accent to your fogs)
6. Wire your harness and Inspire fog switch (same as the 98+ accords)...
7. Have the wires connected to the fogs and test it. Secure the fogs onto the bumper.
8. Place the bumper back on.
Keep in mind this modification was done over 3 years ago; therefore some of these steps may be alittle blurry and I apologize for that. I do NOT have any photos of the procedures; however, I did have some photos up right after I did the install (the photos have now been purged.) If you need specifics on wiring, bumper uninstall procedures, I am certain that you are able to find them from this forum by utilizing the search feature.
Good Luck and Happy Modding!
